What is Stratolia ?
Stratolia is an innovative company specializing in Earth observation through a fleet of small stratospheric balloons. Operating at an altitude of 20 km, we provide high-resolution aerial imagery (10 cm per pixel) for various applications, from precision agriculture to environmental monitoring. Our mission is to deliver accurate and accessible data to support informed decision-making in a constantly changing world.
What Service does Stratolia provide ?
Stratolia offers a high-resolution aerial imaging service captured by payloads carried on stratospheric balloons. Our images provide a resolution of 10 cm GSD over a 40 km width at a fraction of the cost of conventional satellites. We offer two types of services: access to our database of regularly collected images across France and Europe, and the ability to schedule observations of specific areas at a given date and time. Whether it's for disaster assessment, agriculture, or environmental analysis, we are here to meet your imaging needs.
What are the main use-cases ?
Stratolia serves a variety of markets with its high-resolution aerial images. In agriculture, we assist in monitoring crops, managing water resources, and predicting yields. In the insurance sector, our images enable rapid and accurate damage assessment following natural disasters. Environmental agencies use our services to monitor deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and changes in natural habitats. We also work with municipalities for urban planning and infrastructure management, as well as with emergency services for crisis management and rapid response
How does it work ?
At the heart of our technological innovation is our three-kilogram payload, equipped with commercial cameras adapted to the extreme conditions of the stratosphere. These payloads are attached to stratospheric balloons operating at 20 km altitude, capturing images of the Earth's surface with a resolution of 10 cm per pixel. We continuously develop our technology to improve power autonomy, thermal resilience, and image accuracy. Future iterations will integrate additional sensors, such as SAR imaging, to expand the capabilities of our fleet.
